Prototype · work in progress

KAN_ is still in prototype stage, and while many of these cars should be supported, I only own so many cars myself unfortunately. What will drive the order of testing is interest and engagement — if you own a car and want your CANBUS exposed earlier, let me know! Regions, sub-models etc. can have tiny little unforeseen changes, so this is a work in progress. If you have a car on this list that is untested, and you're happy for me to log the CANBUS of your car, reach out below!

Reference · CAN matrix

One bus reader, a whole grid of cars.

KAN_ started as a logger for one car — the GR86 / BRZ (Gen 2). Reading the bus turned out to be the same job on most modern cars, so the list grew. This is every platform it can decode today, how it taps each one, and which ones are bench-confirmed.

Some of these still need confirming. The core channels (RPM, throttle, wheel speed, steering, brake) are what KAN_ is built around. Columns marked * — gear, temps, extras — are collated from public data and not yet bench-confirmed, and only cars with a link in the Tested column have been verified on a real car. If a channel is missing or wrong — or your car isn't here — email me at hello@kairoseng.dev and I'll fix it.

expected on the broadcast bus ●*  collated, not yet bench-confirmed  not present, or not broadcast without polling Tested  links to an example video + CSV once verified T1  OBD-II plug-in · T2  gateway tap

Tier 1 cars broadcast powertrain CAN straight to the OBD-II port — KAN_ plugs in and listens, no cutting. Tier 2 cars route that port through a central gateway that filters the fast frames out, so the bus is reached with a no-solder pass-through harness at the module listed. The recommended PnP vendor guarantees a reversible, plug-in install.

The Tested column fills in as I confirm each car on a real bus — a decoded lap of video plus the raw CSV. Until then, treat a row as a strong starting point, not a guarantee. KAN_ only ever listens: it does not transmit onto the bus, request diagnostics, or clear codes.

Don't see your car? Tell me.

The list grows off what owners send me. Get on the list and say what you drive — that's how a car moves from "someday" to bench-confirmed.
